Heating your home in Pennsylvania with geothermal heat is less expensive than you might think! With the help of tax credits and incentives—coupled with energy savings—a new geothermal heat pump can pay for itself in only a few short years!
What is the Federal Geothermal Tax Credit?
In 2008, Congress enacted the Energy Improvement and Extension Act of 2008. This act offers a onetime tax credit of 30 percent of the total investment for homeowners who install residential ground loop or ground water geothermal heat pumps. A credit of 10 percent of the total investment is also available (no maximum) for a commercial system installation.
The federal geothermal tax credit can be obtained for installing any ENERGY STAR certified geothermal heating and cooling system and is guaranteed until December 31, 2016.
Are There Any Pennsylvania Incentives For Geothermal Installation?
Pennsylvania occasionally offers incentives for geothermal installation, but incentives are subject to change as money is added to and depleted from the program. To learn if there are any current geothermal incentives in Pennsylvania call us today!
